WHEN WILL MAC CLIENT SUPPORT 2 CORES????? WHEN WILL MAC CLIENT SUPPORT 2 CORES????? WHEN WILL MAC CLIENT SUPPORT 2 CORES????? WHEN WILL MAC CLIENT SUPPORT 2 CORES????? WHEN WILL MAC CLIENT SUPPORT 2 CORES?????
Give me a break, this is ridiculous. I have done some testing and sure enough, the main reason the Mac client seems to be slowing down to a crawl is that it maxes out core #1, while core #2 is sitting idle. Pretty ridiculous... come on, LL... please fix this stupid thing before adding new features like useless voice.

From: Missy Malaprop when will the Windows or Linux client support 2 core? you think they'll do Macs first? I was under the impression that the Windows version did? If not then why does it run 2x faster than the Mac version on the very same computer booted into Windows via bootcamp? -=GE=-

From: Gistya Eusebio I was under the impression that the Windows version did? =GE=- Considering there's a sticky explaining specifically how to make SL choose which core to run on under Windows, I'd say your impression is mistaken. In fact, everything I've heard is the most PC games are designed with only one core in mind and having a second doesn't help. That may change in time, but it will require a major overhaul of how the game software is designed and implemented.

Well honestly if they can just keep it from crashing every 5 minutes requiring a hard reboot, then I'll be happy. I think 10.5 is supposed to implement a multi-threaded OpenGL engine in the OS that uses both cores, so that games won't have to specifically implement that. We'll see, it would be awesome though. -=DG=-
