I lost audio in SL right after updating to QuickTime 7.2. It's not just in SL, even the audio portion of videos I run in QTPlayer have no audio. Spent 3 hours on the phone with Apple Care tonight and my problem got pushed up to the engineers. It's strange because I can go to apple.com and play the ads with no problem, but try to play Steve Jobs keynote on the iPod page and it's a silent movie. I'll post a reply when this gets resolved but that may not be until 9/20, if even then. That's the date Apple Care said they'd definitely get back with me. Meanwhile I'm glad I have a backup mac that I didn't update to QT 7.2.

Go to:
Edit - Preferences- Quicktime preferences- sound out and select 44.1 K, if it is already selected , set it to something else, close the program, open open the program and reset to 44.1 K.
See if that helps.

Turns out it wasn't QT, but Audacity that had changed my sampling rate. It's all good now. Thanks for the answer.
