Recover Deleted Account

Hi, I am looking for an old friend. The only problem is I can't remember his name and he is saved my deleted second life account. So my question is, "Is there anyway I can recover my second life account after it's been deleted?" Thanks.

You can contact Linden Lab and see if they can restore your deleted account.

I suspect that if they can, you won't likely have your old inventory, so whatever your friend was saved in - your friend's list, a notecard, etc., won't still be there - but it can't hurt to try.

Another approach might be to try to describe what you can remember of your old account that might help other's to help you find your old friend. Also, try to remember what groups you might have been in together, and join them, and tell your story in group chat. If you have any old screen shots your friend might recognize you could post them.

If you had any memorable experiences or stories they might remember you could tell them here and post them at places like the SLUniverse and such.

Do a Google search on your old avatar name, perhaps your friend's name appeared on the same page.

You could make your forum signature be something like "I used to be Johann Smithouse and I'm looking for a friend I knew under that name. Unfortunately I don't recall their avatar name. Can you help?" Then start one thousand threads, one a day, for the next 3.1ish years, and answer 5,000 to 10,000 questions from people about how to get a box off their hand and why their avatar turns black and why they get dislodged from their vehicle when they cross a sim border. At the end of that time you will either have found the friend or have learned to do without them.

I assume you do not have a lot of old IM-logs hanging around on your computer? They might have the name of the friend if you look there.
