it shouldn't really affect crashing, except in poorly written software... so it might help in SL. Mainly having more ram will speed up and help it perform better. Also with 1.25gb you have unmatched sticks of memory in it, it cannot run dual channel mode on the RAM, so your ram will be faster if you have matching sticks. This will also help video performance very slightly as its using the main system ram as well.

it cann't interleave between the two channels but there are still two channels. and while you're right about the speed increase when using matching pairs i'm not shure if it would be worth the extra cost for more ram, altho no one ever died from having to much ram ;)

So you are Saying that Even when i have more RAM than before the perfomance should not increase as much because i have umnatching sticks ?.. so the i should get rid of the 256 stick and get 1 of 1 Gb that way will match and it will run the dual channel mode on the ram?...

Yes, it will definitely run faster with 2 Gig, when under load.
(Load meaning more than a program or two).
About the heaviest load will be running Second Life.
I wish there were a way for you to put FOUR Gig in your Macbook.

I love the Macbook, but the problem is that its 3D graphics card is just not that good for SL.

The Macbook Pro has the ATI 1600, which is much, much better.

What kind of FPS are you getting in busy and not busy places?
