Hide SL while full screened?

Is there a key combo to hide SL while in full screen mode? This would be immensely useful if I need to use some other application for a moment, without having to switch from full screen to windowed (which tends to crash the client). I know it's physically possible, because SL hides itself when you need the GUI to save screenshot and so on.

So can this be done? It seems everything is bound away when running full screen except option-enter.

The only two choices that came to mind is

1) dual monitor
2) windowed mode

Well, I found a workaround that works good enough. Just hit cmd-U. Ignore the file upload dialog.. do what you need to do with the system, then cancel the dialog to return to SL. Simple enough, and much more reliable than going windowed and back.
