I'm runnng a Dual Processor G5 with OS 10.3.8 and have an annoying problem. If I leave the game running unnatended for a certain period of time, the machine will lock up and the cooling fans start runnning full speed. This only happens when SL is running. Anyone else seen this?

It happens on my PowerBook 15" - the fan part, not the locking up part. SL puts a heavy load on the video card, generates a lot of heat, and the fan has to stay on full time to deal with it. Probably not great for my PowerBook running it that hot for so long - I just had a hard drive failure (thank the gods for frequent backups).

anytime a G5 locks up completely (not just the GUI) the fans kick on at max, i think because the computer isn't controlling them so they assume they need to be on high.
not sure how to help with SL locking up your machine, do you have enough RAM etc? jester . _____________________

If you've ever heard a G5 sitting there with fans running full blast, you would know that I don't need any additional cooling power!

By the way, I have a gig of RAM so That shouldn't be the issue here. |
