Waiting for region handshake..whats up with that?

Never had this problem before. I did a little scouring on the Net and have been unable to find the prognosis. It attempts to connect but I dont even get an in world image of my home like I usually do. It tells me that its waiting for a region handshake. Then I get a message telling me that it is unable to connect and that the log-in packet was never received by the log-in server. It then tells me to wait a few minutes but nothing has changed. Are they working on something now? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks
