Okay: I managed to find the Nicholaz patch and installed it. (You have to revert to Official viewer 1.19.14 and then download the patch.) The freezing and frequent beachball cursor are much, much less. And general movement much more fluid, so I've been able to upgrade some of my settings in the Preferences. It's still not perfect, but much better. I really do advise you to try it. http://radio-boomslang.shacknet.nu/%7Ebb/articles/nicholaz-edition-mac/(MacBook Pro OS 10.5.3 4GB memory and the GEForce 8600 graphics card) Byee!

I am sorry to say that the Nicholaz viewer has had little if any impact on my system performance. I still get the beach ball at least once a minute. This has to be THE singularly most annoying bug I have ever dealt with. It is impossible to do any type of decent design work when you lock up that frequently.
I guess all we can do now since LL absolutely refuses to address our complaints is to pray to the great god Steve Jobs. Maybe he can take a road trip over to LL and go kick some avi butt.

Go to edit prefs/graphics/advanced .........find the box that says open GL and uncheck this (VBO I think) Since doing this I have had NO freeze ups or beachball while in SL!
