stuck on help island :(

Hi

I hope someone can help. I've searched all over, and no one else seems to have this problem. I can't see anything on my map, except a blurred background image of the land, and when I click "teleport" in searches & such, nothing happens. I'm just kicking around on help island going nowhere. I've also noticed that I can't seem to type anything into the search field on the "help" page, but I can type in the search field at the top right of the screen

I'm using 2 different machines. One is a Mac book on 10.5.8 & one is a desktop on 10.4.11. Both have a 2 GHz Intel Core Duo processor & are on Cox premium high-speed wireless internet.

Anyone have any ideas please?

Are there a ton of other people there? If not, you're still on one of the private, newbie-only help islands. Fly around and look for the green beacon going up into the sky then look around at the base of that for a sign that will take you to the rest of SL.

/me hasn't been on a Help Island for a while - hopefully another mentor will speak up if things have changed or I'm not remembering correctly.

edit: and note that once you leave the nice, quite newbie help island, you can never go back there, unless you're a mentor. There is a public version of this place ("help island public" but it's always pretty crowded and frequently a bit crazy. Take as much time as you want before leaving the quiet nest.

I appreciate that advice! Wow, I actually found a way off that island, and now am at a newbie-friendly info hub AND my map works. Now I feel silly. I shouldn't have watched tutorial videos first maybe. Thank you, Meade

I still cannot type into the help field, and half of my links aren't working. Is anyone else having these issues?

/me isn't sure what the help field is or what you mean by links. Maybe this is a Mac thing? Dunno Macs..
