Hello, anyone is running with the X800? Reason I ask is that I am considering upgrading from my 9800 (256MB) and would like to know if it will make a big difference or slight difference. These newer cards are pricey!

Thanks for any replies. I've run both cards, but both in different systems sadly, so I don't know 100% of the difference. I can tell you that BOTH are good cards, but most games in my experience are more processor limited on the mac platform. For instance, running battlefield 1942 on my G5 single 1.8 with a radeon 9800 vs a dual 1.8 with a geforce 5200 with less overall RAM-the dual processor got almost 50% higher frame rate at the same resolution, even with the weaker video card. Go figure! Of course, my 9800 would regularly give short durations of high frames, but not always. It completely depended on the game. I can tell you that I love my x800... but that's probably not going to help your decision  |
