Memory Leak - Privacy Issues

Hi,

I have a problem that I cannot solve with textures being baked in all the wrong places. From my perspective objects around me appear to randomly flash with different textures that are not appropriate to them, either from the surrounding area (trees, grass, buildings or clothes etc) or with textures and colours that are directly related to my avatar, like clothes, hair, my mini-map, even my HUDs that I have open.

More disturbingly other people can see my HUDs textured onto me! Implying that my screen info, or at least some of it is being leaked into the world for all to see. Until this was pointed out to me, I thought it was an experience that was just a part of SL life ^_^

I have applied all the recommendations in the knowledge base relevant to my machines specification in preferences. I re-bake textures. I regularly clear the cache (at least twice daily), and today I for the second time since entering SL, I have completely wiped SL from my harddrive, and used DiskWarrior to rebuild the directory. All to no effect. Clearing the cache helps for a few minutes but the problem recurs swiftly.

The Console Log records things similar to the following, at regular intervals too:

2007-02-28 21:23:54.666 Second Life[312] *** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x1e341e70 of class NSView autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking

Now I do not understand this much, but "just leaking" does not sound very healthy.

I have filed a technical support request with LL and am awaiting (not for long I hope) a reply.

This problem has existed since I started SL, two months ago and does not seem affected by client versions.

I am wondering, since I could find no reference to this in the forum, whether I am alone in this problem (maybe faulty hardware - although I experience no other performance or application issues), whether anyone else has or is experiencing it. Or even if anyone can shed any light on it, or knows what the console log report means. A tall order I know, but if nothing else, it may help anyone else who does experience this in the future :)

I am running the following spec:

G5 1.8Ghz PowerPC. 1.5GB DDR SDRAM OSX 10.4.8
nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 64MB VRAM

Pretty standard stuff.

Any help is much appreciated.

This happens to me on quite a regular basis as well. I've been on here for exactly 1 month on a daily basis, I've run all of the first looks since then, and switch often between the regular clients and them. Just today I started running it on a homebrew intel Mac, and a Macbook Pro as well (new toy!). This a total of 4 computers and multiple variations of XP pro AND OSX that I run it on, video cards ranging from a fx5200go, x1600m, 7800gt, and 7900gs, and it's happened on every single one, regardless of the first look or regular client.

If it's ever happened externally to my hud, I've never been notified, but that's simply ridiculously inexcusable! It's bad enough when it happens on the client side, but usually I can deal with it...but for HUDs to mix and leak to others is an atrocity that should be fixed ASAP! Outrageous!

They at one point told me that the Nvidia FX 5200 was not supported when I was having problems with my iMac. Now I have a macbook that has an unsupported card and it works better than the iMac! it has yet to do weird texture things to me yet but we will see.
