Its time for me to get something with more muscle than my G4 Quicksilver with the 128 vram. The guys at the Apple store say the Powerbook Pro, which SL people seem to like according to that thread here. Are there other options I should consider?

I'd buy an intel based mac...just my opinion, but besides being blazingly fast, they can run just about any operating system natively through boot camp. Stock out of the box I'd suggest the 2nd tier imac as the cheapest route, next the Macbook Pro, and the far too expensive Mac Pro lastly (would love one, but who can pay that unless they have a 3 digit salary?)
Anyway, any of them with the x1600 in them will rock SL, my macbook pro does. Up the ram to 2gb or plan to buy more later and you'll be set.
Although the PPC based Macs will likely be supported for a bit now, I can't imagine Leopard will be moving too fast on them once it's released this summer.
