I notice a new OS X update (for PPC, anyway) has been released. Since it came down the wire, SL's been running a little slower and even more unreliably than usual. Anyone else having trouble?

10.4.7 is great for audio a total disaster for OpenGL !
Especially if you use a dual monitor with a Macbook Pro. After about 5 or 6 minutes of heavy use your main display will fail with what looks like a graphics card failure. If you unplug the external monitor and reboot it will be fine. Plug in the external monitor again and it will fail.

It's not hardware failure, it's a disaster of an update and Apple are being very slow to acknowledge the problem.

The only cure is to go back to 10.4.6 !

This happened to me and a couple of others I know, also I've seen several reports of the same problem ( and many others ) on the Apple discussion forums.

If you use a Macbook Pro with a dual monitor setup DO NOT upgrade to 10.4.7 !

There's something very wrong with 10.4.7 but only certain setups are affected, others seem to be perfectly ok :(

Apple has updated the update with missing OpenGL fixes.

Go to their website and re-download the "delta" update for Intel, or the combo update which always worked.

I am seeing no issues now.

I guess you probably don't use a dual monitor setup ? If you do then you've been lucky because according to my research almost everyone who does had the same problem. Including 3 people in my own immediate circle.

Last night I installed the new release of 10.4.7 on my Macbook Pro and I can confirm the driver corruption problem is not fixed. Yet again I had to rewind to 10.4.6.

So my advice remains: If you use a dual monitor system I wouldn't do this update until Apple recognise and fix the problem.
