Pink Textures???

I am having the common Macbook Pro crashing issue everyone else seems to be having. But I haven't seen any mention of something that is happening to me intermittently for the short periods I am able to be on... weird pink textures.

Parts of objects on my screen are occasionally a hot pink. Sometimes the whole object is pink and others it seems faded, like it is somehow a lighting effect gone bad.

I would appreciate any help and advice on this as I need to know if my card is bad before my warranty runs out. To clarify, I clear my cache just about every time now, and I do not notice color issues in other programs.

Thanks you in advance for any assistance!

Not a solution to that but...

... I share the same pain in the vertex.
It takes a few minutes before the pink disappears and leaves place to the normal texture.
That means that when it appears right, well... it is time for you to log off to avoid the crash ;)))
I don't think it is an hardware issue but the consequence that we 'permanently' clear cache + this wonderful mac version of SL.

I also run SL on the same macbookpro under XP / bootcamp and under XP/bootcamp/Parallels desktop and I don't have this pink issue.

I get the hot pink textures too, and sometimes, its random, and even animated!

In one instance, as I rotated the camera around the object, each time the view would go through a wall, upon returning, the obect wold have a different texture.

This would be potentially a cool effect if it was intentional!

Otherwise I just live with these quirks- the real world aint perfect either!
When I need to get something accomplished I just reboot to XP. :-(

which reminds me of another issue, regarding *macbook pro keyboard & XP/SL.*
Look for the post.... I'm not sure where it goes yet.

I get this too Dallas. I assumed that it was my graphics card dying. I wasn't too concerned about it because I will be purchasing my new, shiny iMac next week. Oh joy!

But it is annoying, especially when, like the other day, I was looking for a new skin and every display in the shop had a pink tinge over it. It was a very frustrating experience. Almost cured me of my shopping habit.

Almost.

I saw this on the Macbook Pro with the Nvidia graphics card. My ATI based Macbook Pro doesn't do this.

The driver for the Nvidia in the macbook pro has serious issues that do more than make pink textures until they load. It also does lovely things like leak all the memory until machine lockup. The posted workarounds not only don't work, they make SL look terrible and could possibly harm the graphics card also.

It sucks.

Pink is awesome though, at least its not some boring drab color like brown.

My house has a lot of pink and I have the opposite problem. I find my pink has fade issues. It looks like my furniture has had too much sl sun.
