I can never fly high or fly hot air balloons/planes. They will not fly up in the air. Can anyone please help me with controls? Thanks

Function-Up is Page Up.

Depends upon how far up you are too. If you are above a certain point (is it 300 meters?) there is extra gravity that kicks in and you can't fly without a flight feather or some kind of flight assister.

Depends on how the plane works. Some use PgUp/PgDn for up/down, some use then for stick-forward/stick-back, some use them for throttle-up/throttle-down.

When I'm flying on my Macbook, I use an external keyboard. Besides, Apple's keyboards since Jobs came back have sucked, so I tend to use an external anyway.

Not all vehicles are scripted to use the same controls so it would probably be useful for you to open up the vehicle and get the help notecard, if there is one (or sometimes they are accessed by a menu).

You do still also have the letter keys (w/a/s/d for direction, f for fly, e/c for up/down) for navigation, that might be less fussy than mashing the fn key. The little controls window from the view menu can be a nice alternative to crowded keyboards too. It _looks_ lame, but with the button held down it will use gestures for turning etc.

Unfortunately you can't use those with the chat bar up. Now if LL let you use (say) alt-w-a-s-z-... when the chat bar was up, that'd be different, but no... it's chat or move.

It ends up chat and maybe or maybe not move with the weird inconsistency for the arrows between the bottom and history chat fields :p esc/return makes the whole mess go away, and remembering to do that stops hurting after a while.

I prefer to just plug in a keyboard that doesn't suck.

Flying

Granted, it's a little wierd, especially since I still use a pc sometimes and switching takes an adjustment.

Different aircraft work differently. My balloon is HUD driven so it's a non-issue. I've used e/c for throttle control on my plane, but last weekend I hadn't flown for a while and kept hitting "g" to throttle back with no result. And since I can never remember FN-UP, I just flew around till I got stuck at a sim edge. Ooopsie.

I use the movement arrows for personal flying, and I have noticed that a flight feather isn't necessary these days in a lot of locations. A friend has a skybox at 1100M and I don't need anything to spacewalk there

Speaking as the developer of the flight feather, I would be REALLY interested in seeing this. Could you drop a LM on me in-world?

Are you sure you don't have something else attached that has flight assist built into it? Like... I have a pair glasses from Kalnins that (among other things) has flight assist bult into them

I might debate that, but it's not really important because that's not the dimension of suck that I was talking about.

They still don't have separate page-up/down keys on laptops.
