sl crashing in bootcamp

just installed xp on bootcamp, and downloaded the windows version of sl. installation seemed to go okay, i have a second life icon in my start menu (yes, i'm a total windows newbie!). i did install the drivers disc that the bootcamp thing made. anything else i need to do? it crashes when it starts up, after saying "detecting hardware..."

Whats your hardware setup? (I'm assuming that SL ran on THIS machine using the Mac version?)

it's a new imac (20" i think), and yes it runs fine on the mac. my problem is i don't know how to troubleshoot windows or even know how to delete a program to re-install it like i might try on the mac.

Dont' know how to help... Try starting Sl several times. in the PC tech forums there are threads from folks who download the software and experience just what you are seeing.
After starting up a few times, and crashing (or giving up), it finally works.

I seem to remember that the first time I used SL (on my mac), the initial start up took a long time and crashed once...

thanks for the advice. it actually did work once, after about 10 tries of it crashing. i tried it about 20 just now and i gave up. although i did get a new arcane error message about the memory not being able to be "read".
