I just read that the NVIDIA GeForce 9400 that's built into the new Mac Mini uses so called "stream processors" instead of Vertex shaders. So I tried to turn off "Vertex VBO" in the hardware settings of the graphic's prefs and indeed I seem to experience a remarkably better performance. Can someone with more tech knowledge than I have confirm this? Or maybe others try it and tell me how it works on your computers (if you happen to use this graphic card)? It would be a nice surprise indeed.

Bring up the statistics windows (CTRL-SHIFT-1) and see what the frame rate is with VBO on and off.

It should be much faster with VBO on. What version of the Mac OS are you using?
