Hey everyone, I'm wondering if you can help me weed though of sea of options for a headset with mic.
Anyone have favorites for a USB headset with noise canceling mic. I do some DJing and clarity is a must and of course needs to work on a mac. I hoping to find a good one for around $50. I had a logitech and it broke after 3 months so not to happy with that brand.
Thanks! JL

$50 is hard for really god quality... I have hearing problems, so it might not be right for you, but I get clear and good (and can be loud) sounds from all the Plantronics I've had, and people say i sound pretty clear. Most people I've talked to think Plantronics are good, but their really good ones cost more than $50

This is something I'm looking into now actually, but I'm interested in wireless headsets too, since I need long cables with my set-up that I'd rather avoid.

I've used Plantronics... excellent!
I've used Logitech.... so-so. Depends on the style.
I've used cheap $5 headsets.... so-so.
All were using 3.5mm jacks. Much less hassle than USB.
#1 thing before buying a headset, regardless of platform, try them on!! Hours of wearing a crappy headset will really make your ears hurt, cause headaches.

I have the Logitech ClearChat Pro (why do some products have such stupid names?) and it has worked out great for me. It's around $40 and uses USB.
USB headsets are the best; you don't have to disconnect existing speakers to use them, you can select them as a separate audio device, and there's only one plug to deal with. Also, most Macs don't have a true "mic" jack, only a line-in, so a USB headset is usually a must.
The best thing about the ClearChat Pro is it has a nice tough cord from the headset to the plug, and no dangling doo-dads like volume control remotes and mute switches. All the controls are built into the headset itself on the right earpiece. Other Logitech models use really thin cords and dangly bits that tend to fray and die after a few months of heavy use.
Good hunting!

Thanks all for the recommendations...I did actually get the plantronic audio 645 and they are going back. They were definitely not made for women with small heads and they sound like crap. Maybe I will give Logitech one more chance, I looked at the ones Zorin has and I like that the controls are on the headset and the light for mute is awesome. I did really like how my other logitech ones sounded. *sigh* why is something that seems like it would be so simple have to be so hard Thanks! JL
