hi, i just received my new macbook pro yesterday and am now wondering if there was something like a windows-to-mac-converter forum, either inworld or outworld ... i have been using windows computers for most of my computer-time and have not the slightest idea how the mac works. i started installing programs today, but i suppose i have the programs on the computer three times now, since i didn't know it had already installed it ... i would love to clear them off again, but i don't just want to erase them as this usually causes problems on windows computers and i suppose its not going to be different with macs. would be great if someone had information about mac-workshops or something, inworld would be super! online would also be great. thanx so much in advance

There are some good tutorials on Apple's site actually, they're usually very concise and user-friendly: http://www.apple.com/findouthow/macosx/With Mac applications, most stuff they require is usually contained within a thing called a package, it's a folder pretending to be an application. As such you can safely just trash an application without any real repercussions except the odd broken alias (shortcut) that you might forget here and there. If the programs you installed used an install program, then they should just have overwritten each-other, no harm done.

welcome to mac! some quick things. - drag the apps you use most to your dock at the bottom of the screen, this will create an alias for you to click on to activate the application. - you can click on a file or folder then "command c" to copy and "command v" to paste it anywhere you like. (just like pc's) - the top viewing options are great to use. i use the threaded version. - to force quite an app, you can right click on the application in the dock to "force quit" - to hard shut down the machine, just press the button on the machine in for about 10 seconds. - you can drag folders that you use a lot into the right side bar for easy access to your docs - you'll love time machine. hope that helps some. and welcome to mac again. -nibiru

There is a Mac Users group in-world where some of the people are very knowledgeable.
