Sorry, but there is no real 3D Import for SL. Everything you see is built in-world using the Build tools.

Avatar meshes cant be made, they're hidden thru various techniques- such as using prims, Invisi-prims, or AO's that "Squish" the avatar.
We're all stuck with the same default AV.

For ANimations, most of us use Poser, Poser Studio, or one of the free programs people have made such as QAnimator.

BTW- Shake is high priced and it's a 3D Compositor for film. Anotherwords, it handles layers of Film as if they were 3D objects

Offline editor for MacOSX

For prims constructions you can use BLENDER for MacOSX as an Offline Editor. But I think you can't use it for avatars nor clothing. There is a tool for this programm to import objects and to create some:

See here:

There is a MacOSX-Version of Blender available. But don't use the current release, take an older one. I'm using Blender Version 2.42a and it works fine.

Hatzfeld, as Tod69 mentioned previously, you can't import meshes, whether Mac or PC. Can't even do booleans on prims. *sigh* No doubt, if (when) we get the ability to import meshes, content creation will get really cool. (I'm waiting for a really awesome motorcycle, myself.) That's not to say there aren't some amazing things that can be prims. Take a look at anything ever made by Starax and you'll see someone who brilliantly overcame the limitations of prims.

Thank you for your reply Simon.

Now i'm sure i can't :-)

You are right when you said that we can do really great things with prims...and most of everything we can need in a game like SL... more polygonal complexity should kill the game I think.

I asked that question, because the dream for me is to be able to work with SL prims, but in my 3D software... and then export models en SL....
For me, built models should be easyer, faster, and more precise than doing it in SL.. :-)

Anyway, thanks for reply!! ;-)
