My understanding is that SL's source code is under the GPL or the LGPL. In either case, know where the mac source code is? I'm interested in atleast seeing how much work it'll be to setup a linux client for SL and maintain it as an ongoing project, Cedega is cute, but a bit of a pain sometimes.

You're probably thinking of another project. SL has always been closed-source, proprietary, private, etc. :/ I do remember hearing something about the Mac client getting ported to Linux by a third party, but I'm not sure if that's still underway.

Yeah, I thought the first person who told me the SL client was opensource was daf as well. I've now had 3 people tell me this. @_@ I'm going to have to do a reinstall of my system later (Mmm, randomly uninstalling libraries WILL cause linux not to function quite right. :D) so I'm going to read over the TOS and hunt any gpl or OS references.

If SL isn't opensource, I'm running into a lot of misinformed zealots. :D

From what i've read the linux version of sl is getting its first public demo over the next few days by cory linden, of course that doesnt mean a public client is imminent but its progress
