I am thinking about bidding on one of the older imacs 2.1 ghz with 3gb of ram and the above integrated video card? I notice that model is skipped over on the recommended list on sl's website? Any thoughts??

I do not think it will work. That's what I have and I crash constantly, even with my graphics set on the lowest possible setting. My guess is that you will have to have a newer INVIDIA Card that is about 512VRAM to have acceptable performance. If you have any money, buy a cheap Dell. It will run SL much faster and with better graphics.

I don't have any experience with Macs, so what I say may not apply, but I have an integrated NVIDIA 7400 GT on one of my machines, and it's barely adequate for Second Life. If I ever go to any area with more than two or three avatars, framerate drops to completely unacceptable levels. It's so bad you can't even call it 'interactive' frame rates.
