Copy/paste Help on an iMac

Hello group. I am a switcher, and now own a Powebook laptop that I use to travel, and have a new intel iMac. I love them both very much. So far I have had only one SL related difficulty:
A friend gave me a notecard with a long class he wants to teach, and asked me to review it for him. I would like to be able to copy this to a document on my hard drive so that I can print it out and read it at my leisure; not when I am in Second Life.
However, I selected all and copied--tried to paste it into: Word, an HTML page, an OPML outline, all to no avail.
Is there a way I can do this? Thanks.

There has never been a way to copy/paste from SL to the MacOS, or from MacOS to SL. Like you, I have tried many different ways over the years. Sorry I can't be more help, but I am hoping someone else might know a workaround to this problem.

Congrats on switching, tho!

Er, well, I can, and I always have been able to, on a G4 Powerbook and an Intel iMac - just Apple-C and Apple-V. I do it quite routinely with scripts, notecards, chat logs etc. I didn't have to do anything special, though, so I'm not at all sure what the problem is.

N.B. that is pasting into both BBEdit and also a note-taking program called Yojimbo. I can't recall having pasted into anything else, though I may well have.

Question?

Ordinal, that's 125 dollars for the software. Do you know how many Lindens that is?
Would it work in Adobe GoLive? I have that.

Cut and Paste to and from SL

I also have a Powerbook G4 and using the Apple-C (copy) and Apple-V (paste) works fine. It maybe you are trying CRTL-C & V which is the Windows equivalent. One trick I use is when the region becomes really laggy and typing in CHAT becomes VERY slow I open up a TextEdit window and type in this (it also has spell checking) and cut and paste into the chat field in the SL client. SL note cards can be copied also by doing a Apple-A for highlight all text then Apple-C to copy then open a text edit window and Apple-V to paste. It won't bring over Landmarks or other objects but you will get all the text.

PS> Argent Stonecutter below is correct the offical name of the key is called the Command key and it looks kind of like a four leaf clover.

I don't get it. I just used command-A and command-C to copy a notecard and command-V to paste it into TextEdit on my Macbook.

No problem.

I've never had a problem with this. With any program.

Paste from SL into Textedit, then copy and paste into Microsoft Word, if you must.
or just download one of the free and fast loading editor programs like Smultron.

Microsoft wrote their own clipboard routines. There are lots of incompatible pairings of Mac software with Microsoft Office.

Thanks, everyone

Well, I was able to paste it into a GoLive page, and then print it.
Thanks for all the feedback. I suppose it is Microsoft ;-) That's why I switched!!!

Copy and Paste in to Word

MS Word for MacOS uses it's own Clipboard. It does not use the clipboard integrated into the OS. Reason being is some silly MS excuse about having to re-write massive amounts of code.

That's the answer. COMMAND-COPY into textedit, save the file the open it into Word if you MUST you Word. If not, textedit or BBEDIT is sufficient for a quick review or print out.

Thanks for the info, it works in textedit. And Microsoft? Either they are unclear on the CONCEPT of clipboard, or just plain RUDE.
