Any Mac Geniuses out there toying with the new open source code?
How plausible would it be to create a Mac Client where you could open seperate windows outside the client viewer for individual menus such as your inventory, map, or edit panel?

More importantly, we need an organised group to look for optimisations to bring the Mac client up to a more playable level. I don't really have much spare time lately, but I would happily look for given chunks of code for optimisations, ie I can have things delegated to me but I'm nowhere near available enough to be one the doing the delegating.

I'd be quite happy to help out with any efforts, although I have a lot to learn. I've been having all sorts of problems just trying to compile the client as is. One big suggestion I have to anyone working on a more mac-like viewer would be to replace the mozilla dependencies with WebKit. This would, among other things, fix issues like non-native widgets.

I don't know much about coding on the Mac, but it would be very nice to enable the new multithreaded OpenGL feature as it is disclosed on the Apple developper site:

FYI
I'm too ignorant to help you, but I did notice THIS behavior:

On an Intel Dual Processor mac, one Processor is usually fully occupied while the other is not busy at all. (I've seen this with other OPEN GL intensive apps).

BUT, the PREVIEW VIEWER that just posted 1.13.2.57209 seems to run using BOTH processors. Now I crashed before I could investigate this...(while taking a snapshot)...but thought there might be an optimisation clue in this somewhere.

LL are supposed to be phasing in multi-threading to SL, perhaps this is them doing it with the rendering pipeline? I don't have time to look after skimming the forums, but I would have thought it would be a prominent bullet-point on the changes.
Unless it wasn't intended to be in yet? I dunno
