I have been running the CPU monitor when running sl. All I can say is that sl eats resources. Without SL running (but having firefox, itunes, yahoo messenger and a text editor running) the system is not very busy. As soon as I run sl the user cpu portion goes up dramatically and every few minutes the system cpu usage spikes ot of control.

Even running vmware fusion with XP does not spike the cpu like running SL.

I loaded the dazzle client and although it still eats resources like they are going out of style, it does not spike quite so bad. But am still getting beachballs. And the occasional lockup.

However, after posting this the new client had a major lockup and had to completely power down to recover. Not acceptable.

When will we get a client for the mac that really works?

and say what? "LL, please do better"? "LL, please fix the MacBookPro frequent spinning-beach-ball show-stoppers"? "LL, please make the Mac SLViewer multithreaded"?

yeah, that's been working real well for the last 9 months i've had this Mac :-(

(i don't know if it's supposed to be muti-core aware already, it seems to be under Windows, but under Mac it pegs 1 or the other core while the 2nd sits nearly idle.)

It isn't just the Mac, I can peg half my processor by merely spinning in a circle with no other avatars present.

I know...I wish Linden would do something about it and support Intel processors!!! They say they don't have enough users...but that can't be since it is so common! I crash like crazy, and it makes me sad because I really enjoy this program and I wish it would run better for me :-(
