I'm another confused former Windows User, who has taken the plunge into MacWorld. Anyway, I just bought a MacBook Pro and haven't been able to figure out how to make my avatar "look up" or "look down". I'm sure it's a simple answer, but so far it eludes me. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

If you press ctrl and alt/option simultaneously and then either page up (up arrow), page down (down arrow), home (left arrow) or end (right arrow), you will look up, down, left or right.
I find it easier to combine ctrl + alt/option with left click cursor movements to do the same thing. If you combine ctrl, alt/option and shift with the arrow keys or left click cursor movements, you can slide your view in the corresponding direction. These are described in more detail here http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=134 These are similar to the Windows actions, though, so please forgive me if I am misunderstanding your question. |

Right. The 'Modifier' keys on Macs and PCs differ.
PC key == Mac Key ctrl == 'Command' key, the little propeller shape 'windows' key == option key (called 'alt' on some mac keyboards) ALT key == control key menu key == no equivalent I''m sure this is confusing when you first switch over, but you'll LOVE the mac's CMD+key commands after you get used to them. ![]() |

the best way to look around is to learn good camera controls... you can see anything from any angle and even see through walls.
if you Alt+click on something it'll focus the camera on it. I usually do that and you can alt click and hold CTRL+shift click and move the mouse around to move the angle... moving your fingers fast enough you can re-alt click in new places then move the camera around more. This lets you move it through walls and focus on new spots or whatever. Scrolling will zoom in and out on the spot you have focused. If you practice that a lot, you should get it down quick... I can see anything nearby at any angle in mere seconds, as the movements are second nature after doing them so long. |

Thank you, folks! It never occured to me that I might have to hold down "two" keys before using page-up and page-down. I just tried it, and it works exactly as has been described here. Thank you for the education!
