I'm switching!!! My RL work is involving more and more video editing and audio recording that my wife and I decided to use this year's tax refund to upgrade my computer system.

So I switched to Mac.

I just got my tracking number from Apple for my dual-core Xeon Mac Pro. I went with the standard confi, just added wireless network and Bluetooth, with the wireless keyboard and mouse.

I've got a second 250GB hard drive coming FedEx tomorrow and a set of THX-certified 7.1 speakers coming the day after, with the Mac Pro itself arriving on Friday. I just bought (last week) a 24" widescreen LCD (Acer) and I just paid for a PreSonus INSPIRE that I won through an eBay auction.

I've never really geeked out over a computer purchase before, but I must admit, getting my first Mac -- and a Mac Pro to boot -- feels like a kid on Christmas morning all over again.

I'm anxious to see for myself how SL will run on it. Also going to get a copy of Parellel and run boot camp for when I "need" Windows, which I think won't be very often in a few months.

:) No real point to this post, just wanted to share. :)

Awesome! (drooling in xeon dreams)...I just ordered a MacBook Pro this morning, quite a step down from the Mac Pro, but a big step up from my current laptop which chokes at the thought of a reflective surface.

Unfortunately it's slated to ship many days from now...is that common for Apple? grr!

I've been running a 'hackintosh' for some time now, which is the only thing that prompted me to buy a macbook now over a windows laptop...I just hope everything necessary is running as Unibins now. Classic PPC stuff has tended to run like garbage for me, but solid Unibins make windows look slow on the same machine!

Same here! I don't think I would have switched were it not for my hackintosh setup. It's going to get reformatted and turned into a file server for our home now.

I just bought an old G3 for my daughters and though on the slow side by todays standards (600MHz), is more than powerful enough for their kids software titles, most of which require 100MHz or even less (one said 50MHz).

I'll have three FedEx deliveries in three days, with my actual computer coming last. I may post some "geek porn" (the unboxing of the whole thing) for fun.

Well... i've been running a Mac Pro in pretty much standard trim (extra gig of ram, wireless and bluetooth were the only additions) and I have to say.. it's pretty damn good :D
