The two biggest things:

1) Turn your view distance down to as small as you can tolerate it, ie 64.

2) Turn your network bandwidth down to under 200. It will take longer for things to rez before they are cached, but stuff will stop just overwelming your graphics bus and processor.

I also found that the latest ATI drivers and the ATI control panel have a big effect, ie change the custom setting for the SL app in the ATI control panel to 'speed' over 'quality'. Seems to improve framerates a bit.

Those three things made playing on my old G4 barely possible.

OMG, I just noticed your memory size. I think you are probalby out of luck with just 256...

all the settings wont make it work. SL requires 10.3.9 or later. I seriously doubt 10.2 will work at all.

even if it does work, with that hardware, even with absolutly lowest settings you can go, its going to run horribly.
