Does anyone know the URL for the site where you can download previous versions? I want to download 1.13, which lawasy worked perfectly for me, and isntall it if that's possible.
This new client is simply a disaster: crashing every 5 minutes!

Old versions will not work anymore. Your viewer version must match the software version running on the Linden's servers.

macbook crash
04-27-2007 19:06
i crash constantly too.. i have to repower my macbook... i thought it was just part of the deal... don't computers just crash every once in awhile because of overload or something? I crash like 4 times a night on SL. I didn't realize it was the fault of sl. I thought it was my computer.

There are a couple of threads around concerning Mac issues with this release. It just isn't you.
Not having a Mac, I haven't paid that much attention to the specific details, though.

I don't have experience with older clients since i started only a week ago. The quantity of crashes brought up a question for me: Why does this disaster of coding have a version numbering above 1.x? I would rate SL as a beta somewhere between v0.4 - 0.5

SL an early Beta?

From: Quinn Despres I don't have experience with older clients since i started only a week ago. The quantity of crashes brought up a question for me: Why does this disaster of coding have a version numbering above 1.x? I would rate SL as a beta somewhere between v0.4 - 0.5 Well, in fairness to Linden, this crashing problem (which seems to affect some PCs as well as Macs but seems worse with MacBook Pros) is a recent one. By and large SL has been stable, whatever else it is or isn't. The frustration you may have noticed in these threads stems particularly from the fact that Linden have removed a very useful Live Help system, in which you could IM with experts to resolve specific problems (or be referred to, and sometimes, sent, info on how to fix things if it were a more complex issue) has recently been done away with. And the remaining sources of help, supposedly more comprehensive but in fact hopless because you have to know what's wrong before you can find the help documents, _if_ they exist, are remote and impersonal. The support teams that you e-mail don't e-mail back personally, but send you URLs that may or may not be relevant; oh, and the UK telephone support line is broken, inoperative, useless. But, yes, there is a Linden history of rushing on with supposed improvements, which are sometimes good immediately, but usually create their own crop of bugs, rather than addressing the problems that already exist.
