Ive had this issue for the last couple of months regarding the mac viewers. It involves all Linden Lab Clients, but not the On Rez or Nocholaz edition patched clietn.
first off i have an intel iMac 24" 2.16ghz core 2 duo 3GB ram NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT with 256mb ram
It will display everything fine for a few minutes before starting to display 2 minute lock ups where i have to sit back and wait for it to unfreeze again hoping it will not crash. This after a while is frustrating and so ive constantly gone back to the Nicholaz pathced edition, with is a few releases old now.
Secondly In the newer versions there is the new Lag metre, witch i thought would help me get better paformence, but in turn just leaves me frustrated again by telling me the reason i have less than 10 fps is not because of draw distance or connection issues, but because of images down loading... constantly, even when everything i see infront of me is visisble....
Are the two issues in anyway caused by the famous texture memory fiasco? Also would love to hear that im not alone with al this.

I've had this issue for a while, the pauses run from about 25 seconds to over 2 minutes. By the time 2 minutes does come around SL has disconnected. Oddly enough my Windows friends also see this issue. I find no rhyme or reason to what triggers it other than my movement.

The 'suggestions' offered by the lag meter for what may be causing your lag are just wild guesses on their part, based on the most common reason for that frame rate. They have nothing to do with any observations of your current situation beyond what your FPS is at that moment. I had it reporting recentlty that my low frame rate was because there were "too many complex items in view", when I was in an EMPTY Class 5 sim, containing ZERO prims and one low-lag Human avatar with no attachements whatsoever!

OK so the lag metre is bollox. But the 3 minute pause is here to stay now i think as the latest Nicholaz patch does not fix it in the latest crappy versions of main clint, beta clients, release candidates and windlight....
Im still useing 1.18.3.5 patched by Nicholaz becos anything else is just a frustrating experience.
