I have upgraded the ram in my Imac G5 powerpc from 512mb to 2gb. Since I have done this, the perfomance of SL has worsened. I have tried installing earlier version, but the problem persists. My FPS remains the same and i crash every 5-10 mins. Anyone got any advice on how to improve the performance? Thanks in advance for any advice !!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a classic case of defective RAM to me.
If you weren't having this crashing before you upgraded you should suspect the new RAM. Try removing the chips one at a time (I'm assuming you have 2x1 GB chips and not a single 2 GB chip), restarting and running SL for a while to see if the crashes persist. If the crashing goes away you'll know your new RAM is the problem. At that point you'll want to contact the place where you bought it or the manufacturer for a replacement. Most reputable RAM vendors have a guarantee on their products and will give you a replacement without hassles.
Good luck!

There should be a set of test software on that that you can run to check for bad RAM.

you can test the memory without having gotten AppleCare, just use AHT... Apple Hardware Test. It either came on its own disc with the computer, or its a partitoin on the OS install DVD that came with your computer. If its on the OS DVD, just boot the machine holding Option key down and one of the options that come up should say either AHT or Apple Hardware Test or something like that.
