I should get Tiger tomorrow or day after.
I wonder if there is anyone out there who has upgraded from 1.3.8 or 9 ( I avoided 10.3.9, personally), rather than doing a clean install ?
Recently I have simply trusted Apple, and let it do the upgrades as it sees fit. Never had problems. Does anyone have any evidence I should do differently now ? Old files hanging about wasting space ? Anything like that ?
I am assuming there is total backwards compatibility with existing software ? I'm not going to get excel telling me I need a new version, or other nasties, am I ? No, of course not, silly me.
All advice welcome for the big day.

i went with archive and install. wiping the drive seems excessive, and i wanted something more through than a simple upgrade. archive and install will give you a clean install of the system, migrating you user folders and settings if you wish, and keeps all your old files in a folder so you can get to anything that didn't get migrated that you need.

An Excellent! Mac resource is Adam Egnst's Mac-TidBits weekly email newsletter, which has been around for years and year. He also publishes a Mac specific - Take Control eBooks on many different subjects. Check 'em out at - Upgrading to Tiger
