At Torley's suggestion :) ...

OSX 10.4.5
Safari 2.0.3

Ever since the the Lindex came online I've had problems selling Lindens using the site. When I click the sell button it attempts to take me to the log on page where it hangs forever. It has never worked first go for me. My solution is to wait a few minutes, or even hours in some cases and try again and again until it works. Deleting cookies makes no difference.

Please reply with your suggestions, confirmations, denials etc ...

( Anyone mention firewall and I'll scream I promise )

Lindex & Safari ?
Is there a problem between the Lindex secure site and the Safari browser.
It never works properly, I click on the sell button and it just hangs forever.
Tried deleting cookies etc.

I find I have to keep trying again and again until eventually it works.

Please investigate this

Lauk--first time I've heard of this, and I'd certainly encourage posting in Technical Issues - Mac Discussion to roundup feedback from fellow Mac Resis and see if anyone else is having similar problems. Laying more details out like what version of Mac OS X you're on, if this has always been a problem or if it just started, and soforth would also help.

I'll let Lawrence know in case there are any known issues.

Sorry to say it, but I've had no problems using the Lindex since I rezzed back at the end of January. Running the most current Safari & OS X. Have you tried emptying your cache in Safari? Possibly even resetting it? (Ack! I'm hesitant to even suggest that last one, as I think it basically nukes Safari into clean-install state. I would suspect you lose everything -- cookies, bookmarks, etc.)

Sorry I don't have more thoughts on this. Hasn't been an issue for me. Alternately, if you can't get it working, you could try Camino or FireFox, iCab, Opera, etc. But I suspect it's something peculiar to your install....

...Which gives me an idea -- create a new user account on your system. Log in as that user. See if it works *there*. *smacks own head* That's one of the first things to do to see if it's a preferences issue or something else related to the particular account.

Post any results & I'll see if I can help further. Sorry this isn't much to go on.

I don't know about using it though Safari I just use it ingame now that you can. Click the little L$ button and a nice ingame window pop us works fine for me, no having to open Safari.

afaik you can't sell L$ ingame. Seems the website has a personal grudge against me then :(

Another thought -- my Currency Exchange Settings are on advanced. I don't know if that affects things, but it is another thing to try.

And, have you created a new user on your Mac and tried it there?

Also, trash all of your Safari 'Icons". The pathway is Library>Safari>Icons. Just trash the icons in that folder. Sometimes an Icon gets corrupted and can grind the browser to a halt.

Ok ty all, so far none of above. I regulary clean cookies and icons, and it's not the user because this happens on all 3 of our Macs here. They don't all run 10.4.5 either so I doubt its an OS issue.

I'm begining to think this problem isn't specific to the Lindex page, it seems to be any secure (https) pages related to my a/c. More often than not it just waits forever for a reply after clicking on a url prefixed by https://.

eg: my login page or the password page you're taken too after you press "Sell Now".
I don't have a proxy so it's not that either.

And sometimes but rarely it works first click. Other times it's like many tries before I get any response at all from the web site.

damned frustrating

And another thing, this only happens with SL pages. My banking site is fine, as are other sites I use with https. I would really like a Linden to look into this to see if something is awry with my a/c .

Based on multiple systems having the same problem, I'd guess it's a proxy/caching issue somewhere between you and Linden Lab. Some other things to try:

* Signing onto your account from another location entirely.
* Signing on using a PC (ewwww! ;-)
* Try using a different browser, such as Camino, FireFox, etc.

I'm not at my mac right now, but I vaguely remember some setting in safari having to do with either images or cookies coming from sites other than the one you are using. i was having some serious problems with the linden site and toggled something that that. either that or it was the reset. ok, this post is probably less helpful than I though. lol.

"Only from sites you navigate to"

ty, I'll give it a go, turned off that option as an experiment. I run a cookie cleaning task periodically to wipe out all untrusted cookies anyway so I don't care what Safari does with them ;)
