i am thinking about buying a
Mini MAC MC238D/A, 2,26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo , with 2 GB
NVIDIA GeForce Go9400M max. 256MB shared memory
MacOS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

it should be this one (US version)
amazon.com/Apple-Mac-mini-MC238LL-Desktop/dp/B002QQ8AJY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics

or this (better specs)
computerbase.de/preisvergleich/a474983.html

for using it in SecondLife, too.
Is this possible
and what preferences will i have to deal with?

I already did test Second Life on a IMAC G4, 2,26 GHz , 2GB
in the time 1 year back with the official SL MACintosh client
at a friend's computer
and it did work ('okay')?

Did some change happen
inbetween with
newer MacOS X 10.6 Snow Leopard ?

I AM CONFUSED NOW.

i need a (relief) 'free sail' message from MAC users of Second Life here at SL forums
that this Mini works GOOD with 10.6 with SL now,
i can't buy the best mini option
because this is the money ( at the moment ~540 euro in my place ) i am willing and able to pay for this,
maybe additional 90 euro more for the "4 Gigabyte RAM plus" option.

"good" is relative..

...to your expectations. I can say that I find SL "good" on a low end Macbook Pro with the same video card, so it should be at least that "good". But my expectations are relatively low.

please specify:
i am talking about the NEWEST MINI MAC
with NVIDIA GeForce Go9400M max. 256MB shared memory

so your MacBook is one of these?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacBook_Pro#Models_2
" Late 2008 >>> Mid 2009 " Model ?
nVidia GeForce 9400M with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory

and what MacOSX 10.* version do you use?

.
.
.

I don't like/use windlight settings that much, so i use more or less 2007-alike SL graphic settings and mostly set particles to just 512 or1024 and so on with my current PC ( nividia 7300 with 512 MB , 2 GB ) and with UBUNTU three different SL viewers (2 snowglobe , 1 actual SL Linden-Viewer) now start regulary hanging all the way under Ubuntu... so it can't be worser, i guess.

Next question would be if the MINI MAC gets hot / hotter somehow and at what point of time or situations the MINI under "10.5.4" up to "10.6" usually sees hangers (if) and crashes within SL (if) --- and if you can browse same time many tabs with firefox / safari / else , and listen to Last.fm additional without any problems same time (using SL with a 120 'meters' draw distance).

.
.
.

btw.:
"Good" = stable, 2,3 hours time SL experience without hangs or crashes, multimedia works inworld with videos and music, no crashes after TP in Sims with many avatars or heavy use of textures.

The current Mac minis with the nVidia GPU should be just fine with Second Life. They've got better specs than my first gen Macbook Pro and it's fine other than the overheating issues that the first gen Macbook Pros are notorious for.

The older Mac minis with the intel GPU, or the G4 Mac mini, no. But the current models, yes.
