I have a really annoying problem. I don't even know how to describe it really... other then to say textures in SL are constantly displaying other textures. It can happen to anything or anyone that has textures involved. I'll attach some pictures of a tree doing it. A relog usually fixes it but its getting to the point where this starts as soon as I login so it helps but not really. One thing I should mention, textures have displayed other textures since I got this machine - but it used to be really infrequent. Now it happens constantly. Has anyone ever dealt with this? Or can anyone suggest fixes? My inkling is that I need to replace the graphics card... however I have a first gen. Mac Pro - and the choices are limited to one other card! An over-priced ATI Radeon X1900 XT. The user reviews on these cards are very bad - saying they melt after about 6 months. I can't imagine how quickly running SL on it would kill it. Right now I'm running Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT. Apple did release a new card... the Nvidia 8800 - BUT it does NOT run on first gen Mac Pros. Help? Suggestions? Am I choiceless? Thanks!

From: Nyte Caligari Has anyone ever dealt with this? Yup! I often get a bright pink texture that substitutes itself for other textures that for some reason just aren't displaying correctly. From: someone Or can anyone suggest fixes? Nope! I wish I could. And I'm on a new MBP with an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT.

Just recently I've had a rash of this, but I thought it was a server problem.

Hi everyone, it sounds related to the bug described in the JIRA Issue Tracker as VWR 537 and VWR 954 https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-537Go to the Issue Tracker and vote to have it fixed!!!! It's gotten better on my G5 dual core (althought it still hapens sometimes) but on my G4 powerbook sl is simply awful and it didn't used to be. It kind of started overnight almost somewhere spring of 2007 for me. Up until then sl ran great (well great as sl can run) on my G4 powerbook as well. 2.0 Ghz G5 dual core, memory 2.5 GB, Graphics: 256 MB nVidia Geforce 6600 1.33 GHz 17" G4 Powerbook, memory: 1GB, Graphics: 64 MB ATI mobility radeon 9600

I have the same Mac Pro that you have, purchased mine in mid December 2007. I have the ATI X1900 card, and I LOVE IT. It is great for SL. Now, I can't say what it will do 5 months down the road... I've seen some of the bad reviews you mention, and I have also seen reviews that say the bad ones are not typical... As for the texture error, have you tried uninstalling and re-installing SL, and have you tried updating the video card drivers? Remember when doing a clean re-install of SL, there ARE pieces of SL in your Users folder, too. Search your HD for "secondlife" and you'll find a folder embedded in the User's folder that is stuffed with login preferences, cache files, and the like. Nuke it all. You'll get all the newbie popup messages the next time you log in, but you can go to Preferences and turn those off again.

Thanks everyone.
@ Ceera... you know, I read more of the comments on that card. It seems like they might have fixed the issue. Sounds like there is a version two of the card. I might end up going with that one if there's no word in the next month or so on the Nvidia 8800 and 1st gen Mac Pro's.
I voted on the JIRA issue. Hopefully it'll get some more attention from LL... it's pretty disruptive.

I've been following the Apple support forums for Mac Pro, ever since they announced the new model in January. The new cards for the new generation of mac Pro can't properly be used in the earlier a Mac Pros, because the new cards and Mac Pros use PCI Express 2.0, while the older Mac Pro's use PCI Express 1.0.
The current model 8800GT Apple is selling only works in the early 2008 Mac Pro. NVIDIA has said they're working on making a version of the 8800GT that is compatible with the original Mac Pro but hasn't offered a release date.

I had the same problem the last 2 weeks on my laptop with Windows Media Center. It has a ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700 graphics card with 256Mb
Since today the problem is gone.
Don't know why.
