So I got a new computer, an Imac, but alas I can't even log into Secondlife at all now. I had a slow mac mini before and it worked well enough, slow and laggy, true, but I could still log in.

Now with my new and bigger/better computer... i can't even get to the log in screen without it unexpectedly crashing.

you need a fresh install of SL if you copied it over from your mini. I don't mean just the .app, as the .app is probably fine. You have a folder in your Application Support folder for second life that stores settings and stuff. If this is copied off an old machine thats vastly different, it can cause SL to crash.

look under your home folder (not the hard drive root) for the Library folder... in there will be one called Application Support... in there will be one called Second Life... throw that whole "Second Life" folder in your trash can, and see if SL works. You may want to go in that folder and pull out any log files or anything if you want them before emptying your trash, but nothing in there will be required to run, it will remake the folder for your computer if you run SecondLife.app and the folder is missing, just like the very first time you ran it.
