i wonder if ll would be willing to make an unambiguous statement in government in sl and/or resident involvement in helping to administer sl functions.

Good luck. Until they have time to discuss such things (probably not for some time), or we come up with a simple, realistic solution to the problem, it won't happen. Slippery slope problem, remember? :)
