Any Eragon fans out there I would love to hear some ideas! I know we would have to start this RPG as only one SIM but im hoping that we could eventually build all of Alagasia in SL. I need some people who are also interested in vreating an Eragon style RPG for SL so please reply some ideas. I'll post some of mine once I know this is an idea others will enjoy.

Sounds intriguing. : )
Could you post some images so we know what an Eragon themed sim would look like? This forum doesn't allow attachments, but you can make a thread in Gallery, and link to it from this thread. |

I love those books and would love to help, but I'm having trouble with the concept of an rpg based on it. How would you do it? Who gets to be Eragon? Does someone get to be Sapphira (me! me!)?? (sorry I'm spacing out the names of the princess elf and Eragon's brother...)
Good luck with this, I'd like to visit a sim based on the series ![]() |

I'd like to check out the books--could you post the author's name etc?

Thanks everyone for replying. about RPGing it... would it be better for everyone to take on a character for the book? I think that would be very fun. I have an idea, Lets say somone is.... Horst the blacksmith, they would wear a titler stating this.... perhaps if this person is not active we could have 2 Horsts.... where whoever log on first can RP Horst for the day, and the other just RP's as a villager/guard/urgal/elf jsut random things...
In the begining we will have a first come first serve basis. When you join the group you will be able to choose a charatcer to be in the book. If somone has already picked that character... too bad I guess. The first sim would be Carvahall, where Eragon grew up, and once we get more people we would add the other lands... I think to make it fun we would need a 3 by 3 (9 in all) sims but this is going to be a while anyway... So we will first statrt with Carvahall In Carvahall, we would all RP citizens ( the lucky first few get to pick the main characters in the town!!) (I kinda want to be Eragon but if somone thinks they could RP him better I will certainly choose somone else! There are so many good characters in the books) IT will take a while to build this sim but if we get enough Eragon fans it wont be that hard Perhaps we may even get to create all of Alagaesia http://www.alagaesia.com/ for information regarding the trilogy... there is a map but its not the completed one |

The map shown on that site fits so cleanly into a 2X3 grid of squares that I'm sure it was originally laid out that way. That makes a total of 6 sims -- certainly a feasible project if the group is large enough.

Yeah, it does look like it could fit in a 2x3. Well, if you need any building stuff, I can help some, just give me a ring. =D |

I'd be willing to help, because it's an interesting concept. I've got in-depth experience in developing full sims, sometimes with subcontractors, sometimes incorporating legacy builds. Working on my fourth full sim job right now as project lead of a great team. The sim owner will probably let you see the work in progress. Everyone likes the grand cinematic sweep. I don't look around SL, find something I like, then build something similar. Instead I look at professionally designed gameworlds such as Guild Wars, where the standards are very high. The big challenge is to approximate those dramatic visuals on the SL platform, since we don't work with a 3D mesh, just prims on a heightmap. |

This sounds like an interesting project idea. I am not so familiar with the books but wandered around the site and looks interesting. I am a big role-play fan.. have probably about a decade of D&D playing under my belt and have always thought SL would be ripe for a good fantasy role-play gaming atmosphere. Would love to be part of this and play either some elven maiden or dragon as needed, maybe more on an NPC level.
Did you see on their site the URL for the poll on which character are you like most in the storyline: http://www.alagaesia.com/characters/index.html A few people you might want to seek out in your setting up of the sim and idea planning: Forcythia Wishbringer: Owner of the Elf Clan sims. Has a very strong 400+ member group (proud to say my very first and longest held group) and several all elven/fantasy themed sims. Could be useful even if just a good person to talk to about running something like this and maybe even some sort of alliance. They had a similar partnership with Dark Life while it was around. Plus... Forcy is a sweety. ![]() Daryth Kennedy: Maker of amazing dragon avatars. If you have not seen them yet, head over to his new sim named Limbo. Or feel free to IM me and I will parade around in mine. ![]() My partner in SL, Amulius Lioncourt, makes weaponry if you need anything custom done. You can pop by his shop in Darkwood to get an idea of his work. While in Darkwood wander around, it is the oldest fantasy themed sim in the grid. It evolves over time, but there still are some things you might find interesting and merchants/objects there that could work in your themed world. Also, in regards to the sim that Traxx mentioned that he is working on currently. I am an officer of the group that is heading that sim, so I can set up a tour of what we have up so far. It is really coming along very well and hopefully will be open public soon, but I should be able to get you in for a sneak-peak. OK, enough blathering for now.. elf out. |

Sounds intriguing. : ) Could you post some images so we know what an Eragon themed sim would look like? This forum doesn't allow attachments, but you can make a thread in Gallery, and link to it from this thread. ERAGON is the name of a young-adults book, about a dragon. It belongs in the teen grid. _____________________

This sounds like a interesting idea. Sounds like a great project. I was working on a dragon sim before when Daryth Kennedy had her Cathedral place on my sim before she got her new sim Limbo a dragon sim also. This sounds interesting. I got a whole sim that can be usable for a project like this if its worthwhile maybe.

I might be interested, but youd have to either tell me how to do it or give me a long time to read them, because I haven't read anything in forever
