Some Good Things About A Grid Wide Government:

1. Players will have something to fight against in common, thus diverting them from other petty squabbles.

2. There will finally be a good use for all that C-4 around.

3. New jobs created for people as tax form preparers, prosecutors, defense attorneys, etc.

4. Clothesmakers will experience increased demand for black justice's robes and striped prisoners outfits.

5. People with no productive skills and the ethics of snakes can be become congresspersons.

Noobs can work at sim junctions as customs agents and border patrol agents.

I imagine it will bolster weapons sales and improve the economy in that regard :)

Residents will cease reading the forums as they become increasingly cluttered with tribunal-mandated confessions, all identically transcribed from the confessions in "1984".
The ex-forum regulars will make Event Hosts and the movie industry rich by attending the public drawing and quartering each week of convicted griefers.

Anyone who passed high school psych will be employable as 12-step program facilitators in halfway houses for the creators of white cubes, black cubes, purple cubes, plywood cubes, multicolored cubes, or cubes which spin.

Stipends will be suplemented by an Informant Bonus for leads to the arrest and conviction of those owning a dance club after Prohibition is passed, or of students secretly writing term papers about virtual worlds.

Scriptors and animators will enjoy healthy competition for government contracts to perfect better cutting shears for those convicted of secretly wearing hootchie hair.

A substantial development award will go to the person who perfects avatar lobotomies for residents chatting in 1337.

Street parties will briefly return to the Welcome Area as long haired protestors gather to sing the old Pete Seeger tune about Little Boxes Made of Ticky Tacky, while carrying placards picturing the Stepford Wives -- But the people who joined the SL Grid Guard in lieu of the uncertaintly of the SL Draft will put an end to all that real quick.

We can all sing a "national" anthem to Second Life and get to say a Pledge of Allegiance to Second Life before all public gatherings.

If we really wanted to go nuts we could incorporate prayers into the Government of Second Life rituals but that is too repulsive even to joke about.

Little boxes, ln the hill sides , there's a blue one and a yellow one and they're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same, at least in the zoned sims. And that yellow one may need to be toned down a bit.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the 3DVR of Second Life and to the replicantubic for which it stands, one simulation, indivisble (if you ignore sim border issues) , with taxes and unequal power distribution for all.

The creation of a regressive land-tier fees which punishes small land owners.

A peculiar land-auction system which sell large lots of land at a fraction of their divided value so a middleman can divide it up and make a profit off of those who don't have large RL purchasing power.

No system of income redistribution so 98% of the in-game wealth can reside in the hands of five people.

Oh wait. We have that now. ;)
