Accosted at Teleport for being a member of a group

Hi All,

I was accosted at a Teleport station last night by a certain political rabble-rouser who loves to stir the pot. The same one who shows a very strong interest in Aimee Weber's Panties...

Anyway, because I am a member of a certain group which has a member that this person doesn't particularly care for... I was verbally attacked and finally put this person on ignore.

I would love to say that this person didn't get a reaction from me, but they did...of course, I would bet anyone would react if they were accosted at a teleport station just for being a member of a certain group.

I know this rabble-rouser gets their rocks off doing what they do...but they won't get to do it to me anymore. What a JERK.

Well. Not speaking of the OP's experience, but speaking about the descriptor of the person.

And not about the OP in particular, who may have just heard this bantied around as supposed established "fact."

But because I've been wanting to express my disgust with this whole thing for some time, and now's as good a place as any.

Despite who likes who, and who acts what way to whoever, there is such a thing - elsewhere in the world, apparently not here in these forums - as objective truth. But because people don't care what they do or say when they dislike someone, they will come up with some catch phrase and repeat it ad nauseum in the misplaced hope that the intelligent discerning reader will be taken in by it. And the probably not misplaced hope that those not so in the know WILL take it as fact.

Someone ELSE wrote that article about Aimee and her undergarments. That means someone ELSE was obsessed with the panties. (Actually it means only the someone else is a male chauvinist prig.) EVERYONE ELSE then started talking about it. It was talked about on these forums, and on other forums.

The person in question in this thread only had to mention the panties thing ONCE for outrageous and malicious people to start this ridiculous and totally assinine and libelous idea that he is obsessed with the panties.

That's a lie made up by people desperate to come up with anything. It's as if somebody had written an article about how telehubs had all magically turned purple, and it was the talk of the town, with everybody joking about it. When person X also makes a joking comment about it, all of a sudden his enemies say, "Woo! Now we can all say he's obsessed with purple telehubs! Pass it on!"

Dishonest. Unfair. Childish. I HATE that kind of thing. People who gleefully rumor-monger any untruth, and don't even CARE if it is true or not, so much more do they care about their chance to attack someone else, and have some new cute catch phrase to do that attacking with, even though it has ZERO to do with any truth or any evidence. It is total BULL and those who started it know it, and don't care, because they have no personal ethics whatever. And I do mean NONE.

Like a bunch of kids in the schoolyard playground all jeering and chanting something about some other kid that doesn't even make sense. Nasty, mean. Disgusting. Puerile.

This sort of thing is what sucks about SL, and what makes me not recommend it whole-heartedly to anybody. I wouldn't wish this sort of thing on a dog. So keep it up, guys, you are doing SL a world of good with it. (Not.)

If someone did an article about me and my panties, I would be trying to forget all about it. I were Aimee, I wouldn't be just real proud of this panties thing, anyway, or anxious to see it perpetuated, for any reason, even including others using it maliciously and dishonestly to attack someone she dislikes.

P.S. Actually, it's an insult to children everywhere for me to refer to this as childish. Most children have more ethics than this. And I do love children. I amend what I said to refer to people who act like bully children. Not like most regular children, who themselves would be above this sort of behavior.

True. But [He who cannot be named] *is* the one who continues to bring it up *constantly* on posts he makes on the SL Herald, as well as in meeting chat logs and his own blog. I've read the phrase from him at least a dozen times. So it is not like he is totally innocent to the charge of "obsession". I have personally read him, in his own words, by his own hand, refer to her panties enough times that it is freaky.

Of course, that doesn't mean he isn't just playing up a joke. But I can understand some taking it as obsession.

Well, that may be true, Pendari. I don't read everything. But as you say, it may be playing it up as a joke. (And I'm sure it is.) I mean, if we can have it be part of our repetoire, he ought to be able to, too.
