Special thanks to the Lindens for creating a dedicated place to discuss the growing field of SL political science. I look forward to the many great discussions we'll all have here.

I look forward to LL creating a forum in which I can voice my opinion that there should be no player run government in SL - EVER!
Thank you.

I did not major in Polysci.
The very term "Polysci" for this discussion -- a perjorative one IMHO -- and the segregation of government and group residential formation from LAND AND ECONOMY already bespeaks a terrible prejudice I can only conclude comes from Geekworld's lack of familiarity with the liberal arts and the land-related and economic philosophies down through the ages.
They're implying there is going to be something "not polysci" about Land and Economy?
I mean...have we read Marx and E.P. Thompson and Adam Smith here??? Or do we just imbibe Marxism with our cheerios in the morning, hmmm?

Building and Texturing *could* go in the same forum, but probably deserve their own. I don't know what all the fuss is about with a separate forum for this.

I want a new forum on, umm, err, Tringo. Tell me why not - a huge number of people play Tringo every day on SL. Just as meaningful to them as government is to others. What's the difference?

I second the argument that if this forum was created based on numbers of people interested, then Tringo should have its own forum.
This forum will be nothing but incessant argument - not discussion.
Reminds me of the squeaky wheel maxim....

Alexa Seems to fit pretty well in the Events forum, no? Tringo is a game that is held as an event. How would you classify Government?

Something the majority of residents do not want.

Alexa... the majority of people do not want a Government in SL. We're talking about a forum for discussions on topics of various forms of possible or existing governments/associations in SL.
Having a dedicated forum is not going to erode most peoples disdain for any form of government above/beyond LL and TOS. It's a good place for people to discuss ideas like: homeowners associations, player-run governments, etc.
I'm kinda surprised at the backlash over a simple forum.. It's not as if this subject wasn't being discussed, but now it's over in its very own little corner and not in the General forum.
