New Nation: Distributed Republic of Marathon

On this day Sunday the 10th of September in the years 2006CE we declare the founding of the Distributed Republic of Marathon.

We found this nation on four pillars: Freedom, Fraternity, Equality, and Tolerance. We open our citizenship to all avatars who wish to follow these ideals with honesty and honor.

Our first enclave and provisional captial is located at Abitibi 216, 1 and we welcome all to visit even during these early days of construction.

Citizenship may be gained by searching for 'Distributed Republic of Marathon' and simply joining.

We also welcome contact from other nations to develop diplomatic ties, either via in-world IM or through private messaging on this board. We are currently investigating a new forum to move to as this one is soon to close.

What's your health care package and opinion on gay marriage like?

The virtual world has no need for health care, yet, though we often feel certain members of the virtual world should seek the care of first life mental health professionals.

As for gay marriage, we heartily endorse it under our pillars of tolerance and equality for all avatars and will recognize any partnership be it homosexual, heterosexual, or cross-species.

Sadly these forums are closing; it's a shame because we can't interact as openly without them.

I see a time when the Grid is actually a variety of well established regions; nations if you will, with their own rules, colonies, &c - it's the future. Sure, there will be areas of relative anarchy, but that's all a part - I'm very sad this history won't be recorded here.

First and foremost: watch the budget, become strong, survive! My Caledon is a mere 6.5 months old, and we are prepping for sim #8 - that's the kind of growth a happy, stable community brings to itself.

Ah, and if anyone was wondering - we have lots of married people in Caledon, gay and straight alike, and have since we were founded. No health care package though, however Yuriko does have a clinic...
