Themed builds - one of the items in the description of this forum - what is the big issue to discuss about that?

I don't get on enough to participate, but I don't see much to say about it. If you own all the land yourself you get to decide everything about it. If you work with other people owning lots next to each other you have to come to a decision about what to build and where it should be and stuff like that. If the building is compilcated enough or you just plain got a lot to build you may have problems with people not making their part, and you have to nag them because it is part of an integrated design. If you get involved with groups you have to do things about deciding who are officers and making sure people are earing their group titles when they need t and stuff like that. For Group questions the Groups Discussion forum might be a better place to look for answers and post new questions.

That's all I feel like thinking about at the moment. Is there someone reading who hasn't spoken aho has done themed builds who has any experience to share?

I've worked on a themed build with user-contributed land-use fees. You're absolutely right that there already exists a hierarchy (group officer and member) with the ability to vote (built into SL) -- officers even have the right to delete objects and eject players.

That's a form of government! LL itself is a government too! :D

The only thing I'm trying to do is find a method to give government binding power ("teeth";), come up with a better way of electing officers, and a formalized system for doing so. It's just a simple step up in complexity over what already exists all around us in SL.

What's funny is that citizens of SL are surrounded by governmental constructs, organizations, and hierarchies but choose to deny their existence and suppress any speech directed at recognizing or extending them.
