I have a torus shape with 'eyes', I need the 'eyes' to follow a detected avatar that comes within a 10 to 15 meter range, the torus would rotate on it's (edit: see post below). this would work like those 'security beams' or 'beams of light' that follow avatars when they approach. That's all it needs to do.

Please leave a message below or IM me in world if you can help. If there is a cost. please tell what that cost will be. Alternatively I am a good builder and texture artist I could barter :)

Thanks

Dekka, i might be wrong but i seem to remember seeing a similar script in the library. it reminded me of duck dodgers in 21st and a half century when he walks uder the giant eye from the warner brothers cartoon with Daffy in it. i'd suggest having a look through there befor you pay anyone to make the script

So your final Nimbus Score is 8.15, a quite remarkable achievement for a biped. Congratulations Crunch, you should be very proud. :-)

Thanks Crunch, only asked here because I have looked for two days now, tried searching for rotate, detect, follow, follower and even tried eyes :(

I'll try duck and orb maybe LOL.

I dropped an all-seeing donut on you, hopefully that will at least work as a starting point.

The stuff of children's nightmares, it is.

Thanks Viktoria, sent you a IM in world.

This is so close to what I want, but it poses a couple of problems. I'm not a scripter at all, scripting is way out of my curve in SL. Anyways what I have discovered from using this, is a description change.

I need the torus to rotate horizontally ONLY, i.e. left to right, on the Z axis I believe, as the torus is first rezzed in world (this script flips it on it's side), I only need the one prim torus to rotate, this script also uses child prims which rotate up and down as well, I don't need this function.

Not a problem. In the root prim's script, where it has AXIS_FWD down near the bottom inside the sensor event, change that to AXIS_UP.

OK. If so, you can comment out the llMessageLinked line (also in the sensor event) and ignore the child prim stuff.
