I'm thinking of getting a piece of land next year sometime. I've not owned any land before so i don't have much idea on land really.

The prims i'm looking for is about 5000 and i'm not sure about the size, probably 1/4 sim 128 x 128m?

Can anyone suggest some price ranges so i won't get ripped off ? :P Thanks in advanced.

Hi,

we have several parcels of land for rent.
For a 1/4 sim with 3750 prims the price is 7000l$ per week.
That's a standard/normal price for a 1/4 of a sim.

We have also parcels of other sizes for rent.

You can get a notecard with our parcels we have available in our sales office.
LM in signature.

Best regards,

ZoHa Boa

Klug, it's definitely worth understand the difference between buying land on a private island vs mainland. There are pros and cons to each, and each has been discussed on this forum.

One of the issues is that if you "buy" land on a private island, in the eyes of Linden Labs you don't truly own it or have any rights to it - the "true" owner (in their eyes), can just stop paying LL and the island will disappear.

The downside of mainland is that you have to be a Premium member to own any and there are usually a lot less controls in place to make sure that your neighbour doesn't build some monstrosity next to you.

These are just a few examples that I have seen, from reading around.

Good luck!

Thx for the info Kalderi, really appreiated :)

So there're 2 types, mainland and private island. Mainland is linden owned and they have all the control with a linden price; whereas private island is the sim owner owned with his/her control as well as he/she could have any price.

If i understand correctly, mainland should be better? Coz linden should be more "trustable" rather than just some random sim landlord?

I think there are some very trustworthy sim landlords, and some that aren't. You would be wise to do your research well if you go down that path. I know people who live on part of a private sim and have great landlords.

So in that sense, yes, Mainland is more stable, but like I said, I have heard horror stories about hideous builds being put up next to the land you own on mainland and LL doing nothing about it. When that sex club opens next door and you are trying to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet on your private beach... I'm sure you get the picture....

There's no zoning on the mainland - well, not yet - it looks like some of the newer mainland (which is more expensive, from what I have heard) has it.

Oh and if you go private, not all private islands are the same - there are full sims, Open Sims and new Homestead sims - the main difference is the number of prims you can rez, but Linden also put some stipulations on the use of the OpenSpace and Homestead. Read around on the forums for more information about the types of Private Island.
