Hello everybody, Im looking for a media player as an object which typically has the buttons "play" "stop" "rewind" and "pause" but which the simple media parcel rights (which allow you to change the Url of music and video in "About land..." allow me to use it and of course change the video etc... Because the few players Ive seen need the person using it to be the owner of the parcel also. Thats restrictive to me. For instance the well known freebee freeTV will not play anything if you are not the owner of the parcel where you put it. Though I dont know if Group rights could allow me to use it as if I was the owner... Is there such rights available ? Is ist possible ?? Thanks for any help.

What you are asking for is not possible. The scripting commands for controlling the media URLs are only available to objects owned by the land owner (or deeded to the group in the case of group owned land). If it was possible for anyone to change the media URLs there would be chaos.
If you need this functionality, you will either have to buy your own land, or ask the owner to place the object for you or, if the owner is willing to set a group on the land(without deeding) it is also possible to script the object such that any group member can edit a notecard containing the music/movie URLs while the object remains owned by the land owner. This is a system I set up for a friend last night who is renting land. Another option is to listen for media change commands from anyone.
No matter which way it's done, it requires the assistance of the land owner in placing the object.

Thanks for your answer. I didnt expect that was impossible. But if I am a group admin of the group owner of the land, do I have full rights on changing every thing and using scripting controls on media ? And what about rental ? If I rent a land parcel am I going to appear as "Owner" of the land ? (Im particulary thinking about the private sims way to rent, by first "buying" the land for sometimes like one linden and then pay a more consequent fee. As far as I buy the land in the first place I guess I am the owner, no???) Please answer me and thank you again for help.

There are several issues here...
1) To be able to play any media on a parcel or sim the owner/or group member with media access, must deed a prim with a script in it allowing media streams to pass through (correct statement, allow UUID of texture and URL). EML Entertainments supply a prim with such a script called a receiver. It works like a conduit, that the players and screens can show and alter the url for media, therefore you, remain in control of what is being streamed, remotely, even if you are not the owner of the land. They come as a matched system, but like all systems, will only function within the parcel that the receiver is deeded.
2) Another system we showcased recently and is now for retail sale, is a proximity server system. This acts like a media player and is fully deeded to the land, but you can show a different movie on each screen (up to 7 atm), as you walk into range (adjustable) without changing the movies shown on the other 6 and vice versa (7 groups can watch different movies), all from one player. WBA-Advertising use a 'commercial' version of the proximity server that does not require the player to be deeded by the landowner, but is only used within our activities in SL, as it is a more secure system for our clients.
3) A further system that will become available soon (hopefully next month) will only require a single prim server to be deeded to the whole sim, and will serve multiple screens throughout the sim (including any parcels within). Each screen will be an autonimus player which will be controlled via touch screen options. These can be placed anywhere inside the sim and will not have to be deeded to work. EML Entertainments will be showcasing this system shortly.
With both systems (2 & 3 above), neither interfere with the url and texture placed on the land/sim or parcel placed there by the owner and will allow them to have their own setup.
In the near future, there will be a system released that will do away with all of these 'limitations' and give people the freedom of choice.
I hope that offers a better understanding of what is available now, and what will be in the near future in SL.

Prims/objects only need to be deeded on group owned land. On none group land, they just have to be placed by the owner, although it's possible to "leak" media settings outside of your parcel.
@Fabbio: If the land is group owned, and you are an admin then presumably you should get media control rights. I haven't tested this with admins but it works fine for owners. One thing to watch for though, is that if you are using scripts to change the media then they will have to be deeded to the group.

Thank you for your help very much. I wonder if it is an admin and not the owner of the group who rez a script for media controls if it will work fine as the script never passed by the owner hands... =/
And I've got another question which may look like a detail but I still dont know. I wonder if there scripts like one of those you guys told me but which also have the feature to detect the meters an avatar could be from i the script or the screen.
For example if an avatar who started a video gets far for more than lets say 15 meters, hop, the video will stop. I guess such thing is possible no ? Do you may be one player in particular? One of those above here ?
Thank you all again.
