There are a few skins from different people named that, do you have a picture or a place where you saw it?

for 250 it is either crap or dirt cheap.

tolerable skins usually are around 1000, good ones start at 2500. that is only my personal shopping experience.

why don't you just try it on and look at it? i am guessing that you already bought it?

on the other hand, friend of mine got this folder of actually quite good free skins somewhere, i'll point her at this thread.

Why don't you just form your own opinion? Does the skin look the way you want your avatar to look, or not?

There are lots of skins I like on other people but I wouldn't dream of wearing. Conversely lots of people admire the skins I wear on me, but wouldn't consider those skins for themselves.

Do *you* think it's a good skin? That's really the only relevant measure.

I hear what you are saying... but I think it takes awhile for new people to develop an eye for what looks good and what doesn't. I have helped newcomers before and of course one of the first things I will suggest is a nice looking skin, because it's so important if you want to look good. Well... I have had a couple new people say to me... "there's nothing wrong with this skin" when clearly they are wearing an awful freebie. Even when you show them a good skin next to a lesser quality skin they still don't really get it. Then... a few months later you see the person and they are wearing a nice looking skin because at some point they learned how to recognize it. And then of course there are some people that NEVER get it. You know... born in 2007 or earlier and you look at them and wonder if they can actually SEE what they look like.

Then you want something like a skin from Redgrave. They are great looking, and a whole lot of other people think so too because I see them all over (Redgrave has a distinctive look). And other skin places are starting to copy that look, another indication of popularity.

Redgrave is expensive, though.

You might want to look at PixelDolls, they have some very nice low priced skins. Or for a little more, see Symphony and look not at the newest releases, but at their last year's line in the back room. They're very good quality at a VERY reasonable price.

When buying skins, ALWAYS buy the demo pack first and try them on. Look at them under different lighting conditions. Look at joints. Look at the underbust shading. Look at the butt, especially the area between the thighs. Look at details like the collarbone, the navel, the nipples. Are there realistic looking freckles and blemishes and tiny imperfections? Does the makeup work with your face shape, or do you need to adjust your shape a bit (or try a different skin instead)?

Ah, okay Eli. I hadn't seen the question in that light.

The standard look in SL - very tan skin, very frosted lips - is so completely not to my taste (on me or on anyone else) that I don't really care if other people think it looks good. (Hell, the skin I wear has age lines and almost no makeup. Some people probably wonder why I want to look the way I do.)

But I guess if the question was more "help me judge the overall quality" rather than "does this look nice" I can understand it.

The best way to develop your eye for skin details is to get a whole lot of demo skins, and spend time looking at them on yourself. See my post above about some things to look for.

And while we are on the subject... I HATE demo skins. I just can't look past the lines and the DEMO text they put on them. I wish there was some other way for designers to provide a demo that actually gives you an idea what the skin is really going to look like.. and still ensure that people won't wear the demo as an every day skin. Many people don't seem to have a problem with it, but for me... I can look at a demo skin for an hour and I still don't feel like I have a good idea what the reall skin is going to look like.

I agree with you,and why is shape in demo when you can't see how you gonna look like with him.Maybe is better idea to were that shape couple of minutes and than he take off,or staff like that.

i don't really mind if there is the word demo on the chek or something.. but I once tried one on from a small shop and the designer had the word repeating all over the ksin.. as in a very steady, very tight repeat, I couldn't even see the color of the skin beneath it, was awful!...

I doubts hse sold many of her skins at all.

good luck finding one you like :)
