two best...

skins I know of that I own are from Gala Phoenix (1K a skin) and Skinny Dip (900l a skin). Gala has a ton more makeup options and skn tone options than Skinny Dip does, but they're both some of the best looking realistic skins I know of.

I also like the Alina skin (1400L) from Lost Thereian (I own this as well) and like it's skin tone.

Overall though, I like Gala's skins the best (She's really nice too). Her skins are not too shiny and definitely not ashy and the skin tones are VERy realistic. Not orangey or too pinky.

Hope this helps. Also, go check them out in game, you're not really going to know what you like unless you try them on. :)) Gala and Lost both have demos, I don't remember about Skinny Dip though.

Hope I've helped some. :)

PS. If this is a gift, IM the makers to send as gifts as these skins are all NO TRANSFER.

You can check my post of a couple of days ago:

Also, check the body detail, the best face is not always the best body!

I like Lechium Candour's LILA line -- I own several midlevel (1500-2000L) skins that look like cartoons by comparison. (I don't have any really expensive ones, so I can't speak for those.)

Best thing about Lila's: the lipstick matches the avatar lips, rather than extending outside them like most. So my lips looked thin when I first tried one, and then I realized that now I'm getting the lips that I designed in my shape, rather than having to compensate for weird overdone lipstick in the skin.

Another big plus: the Ghost line is the best really light natural skin I've seen. I wanted to match my RL Caucasian-geek-basement look, and I was starting to wonder if I'd have to settle for Goth clown-white.

The first photorealistic skin I think of is Raspberry and Cow. It's searchable in Search > Places as RaC, and was on the cover of Aspire magazine recently, I think.

Chip Midnight also does Photo Realisitc Skins

As does Second Skin labs.

[soapbox=on]

The photorealistic female ones from Second Skin labs are generally good, but the freckled redhead is superb... Only saying that because it's the one I have! I have friends with the more 'traditional' female skins from Second Skin labs (after I directed them there), and while still very well done, they're just not quite as good for some reason... and that' reason has to be the details - the freckle and mole overlays...

That said, it is rumoured that SSL is reworking the female lines shortly, so if there's no rush, it's probably worth waiting to see what's made available ... The latest crop of male skins are light-years better than their predecessors; so one can only imagine what's in store on the female line.

[soapbox=off]

I do agree that Chip Midnight's and Gaia Phoenix's are very good. Once again, I have friends with them both and they're very happy with them.

It could just be me, (so don't rule them out on my sugestion) but I've found that the X2 skins still seem to be lacking that 'spark of life' when compared to some of the others; but the number of makeup options is significantly larger... Depends on what you're after. Also worth mentioning that I was looking at the paler end of the range; so can't comment on the more tanned looks...

I second RaC for skins, I'm just so happy with mine.

It's really all down to preference, but definately look at the whole skin & not just the face/makeup.
