Building Partner
Business Laboratory LLC

We are looking for a partner to help us build complex objects in Second Life. We are a business simulation company, just started in October 2009 (which explains why our website isn’t up yet). In short, we simulate all kinds of operations for real world clients – supply chains, operations, even accidents.

Our strength is creating the simulations – adding intelligence to objects through scripting. Our strength is not in the building of things. Rather, we want to partner with a good, reliable builder who can create the kinds of objects that we need, and to do it in a way that is very visually striking. Here is an example of the kinds of things we might want to build:

Factories
Hotels
Oil rigs
Vehicles
Tunnels
Subway Stations
Ships

Most of this will be placed on our private island called ColLAB1.

The following qualifications apply:

1. Experience translating CAD drawings into objects in SL.
2. Experience creating machines.
3. Someone who is comfortable applying basic scripting to the objects.
4. People who have a passion for gadget building and are comfortable with vague instructions from us, since we often don’t know what we want until we see it.
5. Knowledge of object security and the setup of regions.

To test all of the various candidates who would like to work with us, we are going to narrow the field with our first round of interviews. That group will then be asked to build a test case. The winner of that will be asked to be our partner on our first few projects, for which we will request a proposal and price.

Initial Interview

You will take us to your demo site(s) and show us your work. We will discuss the work and ask you a series of questions. We will try to keep it to 45 minutes or so.

If you are interested, please send a resume and references to George Drammond.

Thank you,
