Hi

I'm looking for a good easy to set up vending system/machine that will display multiple products at a glance. Suitable for a small but ambitious trader who's still learning the hard way :-)

I've already worn out one pair of prim soles going form place to place checking out what's on offer and of course they all claim to be the best and the easiest to set up.

Unfortunately I can't test and buy before I buy however I would appreciate any advice and recommendations from any other resident traders who have had good or bad experiences with vendor systems

Thanks in advance

Vending System

Hi Lasher

I use the Apez system and I love it. I picked it because it is networked and I can do everything from the web. I have had Zero issues with it outside of the standard learning curve. You might want to look at the Hippotech(web based also) and the Jevn. While the Jevn is notcard based(last I checked), they do have catalogues that you can distribute to your customers. It was a touch choice at first LoL. The one advantage I can see in buying the Hippotech is that it is about half the cost of the Apez.

only vendor in SL worth buying now is the hippovend system

i origonally had JEVN for about 6 months got fed up with products not being delivered
and servers going offline so i brought the apez system and was appauled at how slow the website was and lack of support so bought the hippovend system and it really is streaks ahead of the rest, lightning fast web access has catalogue also and is half price of many of the others

since using it for a couple of months i havnt had a single product not be dilivered and the filter on sales log is worth the price alone :)

I concur.
Sister wrote a book that details like 6 chapters on vending systems alone (95-page book in SL) - she's whining because now she has to write an update as a second edition all because the HippoVend system blows everything else out of the water.

She has like 20 or 30 different vending systems (and covers most in detail in her book)

Okay - shameless plug: Successful Business in Second Life :)

You may wish to take into account that as a Mall Owner - I don't allow Apez or Hippovend in my sim owing to the lag per scripted vendor. The only well-known vendor I allow is Jevn.

i started out using 3 winks vendor by sitting lightcloud it is an awesome system and works well he has 3 styles

when i hit over 100 items i went to the jevn system it works great and i dont have to go from area to area to update

ive only had one problem with them a time or two but its because one of the outlets i am at is on a sim border so occasionally its slower to update but ive never had any other issues with them

ya - I have a sim, too...

the Apez is heavier resources than JEVN, but Hippo is about equivalent. The only 'problem' with hippo is it comes in bursts as a merchant might tend to update all his vendors simultaneousely. But, once the burst passes, the Hippos use about the same, sometimes a little less resource than the JEVN.

I'm willing to accept a burst every now and again.

However, considering the resources between JEVN and Hippo are similar - the Hippo costs less and offers far better features along with being *far* more reliable than JEVN. (Persinal experience here - what headaches I'd have with JEVN everytime I need to update or change something.)

I recommend HippoVend for network systems.
For stand-alone systems I recommend 'Simple Box Vendor' (I forget the creator - it's on SL Exchange) and the open source SVN system and commercial ones based on it. Giftopf is good, too, along with Drifting Thoughts.

Just my 2-cents based on 18-months of experience (and I own all those that I've mentioned - sister owns like 20 systems and agrees)

Your milage might vary :)
